☼ A Surprise Birthday Gift ☼

This turned up in my mailbox early last week. When I saw it was my friend Ute from Germany, I squealed. I was not expecting it!

As usual, she included two gorgeous little easter colouring books for Seven and Four. And of course, they were thrilled beyond belief and started colouring straight away!

I took a few moments to read the beautiful card. Excerpt: I saw this card and thought of you, probably cuz I figure you're bold enough to wear such a beautiful daring outfit? To this I say, Oh hellz yeah sister. I would rock this dress AND these tights like a mofo.

Squeals all around! I love Sleek palettes! What made this extra special for me was that this was the exact palette I had wanted to purchase around Christmas time, but due to financial constraints I was unable to. Then when I went back to buy it after Christmas, it was already gone! The perils of a limited edition item... I thought all hope was lost... And I'd never mentioned this to Ute (or anyone) so when it appeared (like magic!) in my surprise package, well of course I squealed. The beautiful quad of colours on the right (orange, red/orange, sparkly orange, pink) were the sole reason I wanted this palette! Look at them! Fabulous and glorious. What a dream! A look will be forthcoming, I promise.

MORE squeals all around! This is my very first ever Estee Lauder lipstick and I love it so much. It's creamy and smooth and delicious to wear. The colour is rich and perfectly pigmented and not too slippery. It adds a perfect coral touch to my lips.

I can build it up or keep it almost sheer, depending on how I feel like wearing it - though honestly, it's such a shame to keep it sheer and subdued. Such a fantastic, bold colour deserves its time in the spotlight.

MORE squeals all around! And a few breathless OHMIGOD! thrown in for good measure. This, girls and boys, is my first ever Dior lipstick and I am in love with it. #863 Pink Bustier has just the right amount of pink for my lips. It's a creamy, cool toned pink that looks almost nude on my lips, but not enough that I look like a corpse, and not so much that I look like a try-hard barbie.

To my darling, wonderful, extremely generous friend Ute: thank you. I love them all more than I could ever say! You completely made my week with this wonderful surprise birthday package! You left me feeling very, very spoiled indeed. I love you sister!! xx

Wednesday Wishlist | Nail Polish

It's no secret how much I love Deborah Lippmann polish, and the new Spring 2013 collection just reaffirms that so much. If I can get my hands on these babies I will be a very happy chappy indeed!

Unfortunately Deborah Lippmann do not ship to Australia, so I will be keeping a close eye on eBay. If you have these polishes, what do you think of them?

theLook: Flower Beauty | Shadow Play & Orchid-ing Around

With a break in the rain and unpleasant weather in general, I was finally able to do an eye look with semi decent lighting and I got to use my brand new Flower beauty products my beautiful friend Heather @ DonniesSweetie (YouTube) sent me!

I wasn't sure how I was going to make the quad work for me since three of the colours are matte and I am not a giant fan of matte colours, and the purple in the quad is not particularly vibrant. But then I realised I could very easily layer the cream shadow over the top, and I would have the sparkle I was looking for!

All the products are listed below in the description box if you're interested, but I will tell you that the fabulous colour on my lips is the beautiful Hourglass Lipgloss in Icon. I absolutely love it!!

Thanks so much for watching you guys -- have a fabulous weekend!

#NOTD featuring Wet'n Wild

This was my first time using the Wet'n Wild nailpolish in Blue Eyed Soul (Fergie Collection), sent to me by my amazing friend Heather who lives in Florida. (Unfortunately we cannot buy Wet'n Wild in Australia - grrr)

Application was an absolute dream. These polishes have a wide brush which makes applying the colour completely effortless. It applies flawlessly and is opaque in just one coat. I love that. I drew the little silver heart freehand with a raw spaghetti noodle (ahaha!) and used Going Platinum, also from the Fergie Collection.

This combo stayed on my nails for about 3 days before it began showing very obvious signs of wear. Removal was a little harder than I initially thought it would be, though not as tough as actual glitter polish. I'm not complaining; I love these polishes and I would happily buy more of them if I could.

Base: Sally Hansen Double Duty
Top: Wet'n Wild Fergie "Blue Eyed Soul"
Accent: Wet'n Wild Fergie "Going Platinum"

#NOTD featuring Wet'n Wild & Zoya

This combination was an instant hit! This was the very first Wet'n Wild nail polish I used, and this is in "I Need a Refresh-Mint". The accent nail polka dots came courtesy of Zoya "Charla" and I absolutely love the contrasting colours.

The WnW polish has a nice, wide brush which makes application flawless and ridiculously easy; two strokes for most nails. It does not go on streaky and dries relatively quickly. It's creamy but not overly thick and looks beautiful.

The Zoya polish has a narrow, standard width brush which I don't care for, though since the polka dots were done using a raw spaghetti noodle, it didn't much matter.

Removal of both polish was quick and easy, taking no extra time because of the glitter in Charla.

Kiko Cosmetics Collection

Recently I uploaded my Kiko Cosmetics Collection to my youtube channel, so I thought I'd link up here as well. I did mention that I would be putting swatches here on the blog, however I haven't managed to get that done yet since the weather is rainy and grey and cloudy and has been for two weeks.

Over it.

I will eventually get pictures up, I promise. In the meantime, please enjoy the video (be warned, extreeeeeeeme close-up!) and feel free to leave me any comments!

Obsessing...

[ Girls ]
I can't even stand how much I obsess over this show. It revolves around Hannah and her three friends, all of whom live in New York City. You might automatically think Sex and the City but no, it's nothing like it. This? This is better. A hundred times better. I love Hannah's character; I think she's sassy and awkward and beautiful and she's trying to find herself and where she fits in in her own life. I love her. It's also on HBO which means there's a ton of swearing, a ton of sex and some full frontal nudity.

[ Hart of Dixie ]
When I first started watching this, I didn't understand how it was even airing, because it was just so boring. But I had nothing else to watch at the time, so I forced myself to sit through the first episode. It wasn't brilliant. I kept waiting for something awesome to happen. Nothing awesome happened. But by the end of it, I kind of had to know what was going on in episode two. By the third episode, I was well and truly hooked. The show revolves around Dr Zoe Hart and her new life in Bluebell Alabama. Throw in some hot bodies and an awkward love triangle, and I am all over that. Yessuh.

[ The Carrie Diaries ]
I am a total cougar after watching this show. This is young Carrie (pre Sex in the City; before she became a doormat and let Big walk all over her and treat her like utter garbage), confident Carrie, the-totally-awesomest-best-friend-you-wish-you-had Carrie. She's sixteen, goes to high school with her two best friends and works part time in New York City. She has a younger (albiet highly irritating) sister, lives with her Dad and juggles her life in Connecticut with her life in the Big Apple. And what series would be complete without a bad boy? Not this one. Enter: Sebastian Kidd. Oh lord. He makes me wish I was sixteen again. And living in Connecticut. In a fictitious tv series. Yeah.

[ Arrow ]
Born in a comic book and transferred to a tv series, does this show even need a blurb? I kinda don't really think so. Look at him. LOOK. I mean, damn. If you watch for no other reason, watch for him. He's topless a good portion of each episode, girls. What's not to dig about that? If you need more... He's a crime fighter. He's topless a lot. He works out like a machine. He loves his family, and is intently focused on righting a lot of wrongs. He's also very much in love with his best friend's girlfriend who, incidentally, was originally his girlfriend before he cheated on her with her sister. And then got her sister killed. The only thing that would make this show better, is if it were aired on HBO. Yum.

So - what's on your obsession list these days?
